In terms of cleaning your cockatoo’s enclosure, plan to remove any uneaten food, clean your bird’s food and water bowls, and remove feces from the bottom of the enclosure on a daily basis. If possible, the cage or aviary should include a variety of branches or perches that your bird can climb and sit on. Keep in mind that if you purchase a smaller cage due to space constraints, you may need to spend more dedicated time taking your bird out of its cage for exercise than you would if you provided it with an aviary that is large enough for flight. At a minimum, your cockatoos should be able to stand upright and spread their wings without touching the sides of the cage.
